New Methods of Licensing Announced

Santa Clara, Calif. - February 7, 2002-

e*ECAD has evolved beyond providing the first and only real-time tool rental program by adding several new licensing options. e*ECAD now offers monthly, yearly and perpetual licensing in addition to its standard pay-per-hour and pay-per-use tool rental. e*ECAD also offers a rent-to-own program in which a portion of credit used for tool rental may be applied towards a perpetual license. Technical support is also available through e*ECAD, and maintenance is included with all tools purchased through e*ECAD.

With multiple licensing options, tool purchases can be tailored to actual usage. Tool usage fluctuates by user, tool, and design, and various licensing models were created to accommodate these design needs.

Front End tools such as library characterization may be used heavily at first with usage tapering off later. This heavy use for limited periods of time could utilize the advantages of a monthly term subscription license. Designers may utilize the pay-per-use model for sporadic use throughout the rest of the design.

Tools used heavily throughout a design including layout or place and route are conducive to extended subscription licensing. The disparate needs of small and large companies coupled with restrictive budgets necessitate use of flexible licensing models rather than one-size-fits-all licensing. e*ECAD provides solutions by enabling users to choose the tools they need at the lowest cost based upon expected usage of that tool.
